Mata Sahib Kaur Educational Trust (MSKET) is a volunteer-led charitable organisation that holds these core values at its heart.
We aim to promote, increase and sustain individual and collective knowledge of the immense contribution of Mata Sahib Kaur Ji to the Sikh faith. The life and wisdom of Mata Sahib Kaur Ji are used as a basis for projects that benefit all, regardless of faith.
MSKET also spreads awareness of the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib Ji (principal scripture of Sikhism), for the enhancement and improvement of the worldwide community.
Furthermore, our charitable organisation pursues acts of voluntary service which serves to uplift all humanity and in doing so, practise the Sikh concept of Sarbat Da Bhalla (“may everyone prosper”).
Mata Sahib Kaur Ji (1681-1747) was and still is a truly inspiring individual. She was a leader and humanitarian who dedicated her life to spiritualism, fighting injustice and improving the lives of the impoverished. Though she carried out her life’s work in India, her impact is global and her influence timeless.
She assisted everyone
Mata Sahib Kaur Ji (1681-1747) was and still is a truly inspiring individual. She was a leader and humanitarian who dedicated her life to spiritualism, fighting injustice and improving the lives of the impoverished. Though she carried out her life’s work in India, her impact is global and her influence timeless.
She assisted everyone who entered her court, regardless of religion, caste or creed. For example, she uplifted poverty-stricken Hindu and Muslim families when they asked for financial help, covering all the costs and preparations for girls’ marriages. She also provided relief to drought-stricken farmers, by having wells dug in their villages - alongside numerous other projects.
Another noteworthy achievement was Mata Sahib Kaur Ji’s leadership of the Sikh nation. A woman in a position of power, during a period of endemic inequality and discrimination was extremely rare. Yet Mata Sahib Kaur Ji led the Sikhs for 40 years, using her power and influence to benefit humankind.
At MSKET, we are motivated by Mata Sahib Kaur Ji’s selfless, compassionate and inclusive nature and we use these qualities to inspire us in our voluntary work.
In December 2019, MSKET ran its first ever shoebox appeal. The generous public donated over 250 boxes filled with much needed items. These made their way to deserving causes such as Border House, Women’s Aid, The Dawn Centre, Midland Langar Seva Society and Rainbows.
Every Sunday, we mobilize our teams of volunteers to make a real difference. Join us and see what can be accomplished when you get an impassioned team to focus on change.
MSKET organises annual events to collect food donations from the Sikh community. This year the generous public donated 4 tonnes of food which made its way to those most in need. The charities that benefitted were Midland Langar Seva Society, Leicester South Food Bank and The Dawn Centre.
MSKET also organises annual drives to collect clothes donations from the Sikh Community. In past years, this has always been well attended and thanks to the generosity of the public, MSKET has sent good quality clothing to the disadvantaged.
MSKET organises educational camps for youngsters, with a view to carry out our vision in an engaging and interactive way. If you would like to book a camp or a MKSET speaker to come to your camp event, please go to the bookings section.
We believe in the power of education to bring about social change. The MSKET stalls are a platform for sharing information about Mata Sahib Kaur Ji and the teachings in Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This service is provided to empower people with knowledge and inspire them to help others. If you would like to book an awareness stall, please contact us.

The term ‘Parchar’ means to spread awareness and educate, which is the very essence of MSKET’s vision. We have a team of knowledgeable and dedicated Parcharaks (talkers), able to provide insights on Mata Sahib Kaur Ji and educate about different aspects of Sikhism. If you would like to book a speaker, go to the bookings section.
